The Bunsen-Tagung 2025 "Physical Chemistry of the Climate and the Atmosphere" will take place from March 17-19 2025 in Leipzig. The conference will be held at the University of Leipzig, Campus Jahnallee.

Leipzig University and the Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS) are cordially inviting to the Bunsen-Tagung 2025 on „Physical Chemistry of the Climate and the Atmosphere“. Leipzig hosts many groups working related to this topic from Chemistry to Meteorology and Earth Sciences and has numerous interlinks between the Alma Mater and the rich non-University research landscape including a Helmholtz-Centre, three Leibniz-Institutes, and Max-Planck and Fraunhofer Institutes. Leipzig is happy to host the Bunsen-Tagung again and looks forward to the scientific exchange on Physical Chemistry in its full breadth and especially the main topic. Germany‘s Physical Chemistry has long had strong links to investigations of interest for atmospheric processes and the climate as well and we hope to see this represented well at our conference. Clearly, kinetics and thermodynamics are urgently needed in atmospheric and climate research for process descriptions and, more broadly, the development of better models. Then, more technology-oriented approaches such as the quest for better batteries with its electrochemical research will also contribute to tackle and solve existing problems. All in all, our science is addressing pressing issues of large societal impact and can thus lay the ground for decisions to be taken as needed.
