4th Conference of the GDCh Division of Chemistry and Energy

April 9 - 10, 2025 in Duisburg

Welcome

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

the GDCh division “Chemie und Energie” is inviting you to join our 4th division meeting taking place

9th - 10th April 2025

at the Fraunhofer InHaus Center in Duisburg.

This is a continuation of the meeting series from 2016 (Jena), 2018 (Mülheim/Ruhr), and 2023 (Pfinztal) to initiate discussion and exchange.

Since our first moves as a working group in 2009, the societal relevance of the topic Chemistry and Energy significantly increased. The role of chemistry as an enabler of energy transformation is clearly visible and widely accepted beyond the expert communities. Topics like batteries, hydrogen or electrification are broadly discussed in politics and society.

Choosing the title

Green Energy Transformation – GET it done!

we want to emphasize the prominent role of chemistry in the energy transformation.

Together with our local organization partners Carina Marek (Coordinator of the CRC/TRR 247 at Ruhr University Bochum) and Stephan Schulz (Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen) we will put together an interesting program and ask for oral and poster contributions from everyone who is interested in the border area between chemistry and energy, and between academic research and industrial applications. You are welcome to join us in the discussion on important future topics regarding the energy supply.

Prominent representatives of this area agreed for keynote lectures. Robert Schlögl (President of the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Foundation), Monika Bosilj (Head of Business Development Europe of thyssenkrupp Uhde), Peter Strasser (TU Berlin), and Anke Weidenkaff (Head of the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS) will present their academic and industrial perspectives on current topics in the field of:

  • Energy Storage & Distribution
  • Chemical Energy Carriers
  • Hydrogen Technologies
  • Sustainable Materials

Duisburg is located in the heart of Europe and easy to reach from all areas of Germany. We invite everybody interested in the topic to join us there for interesting and inspiring discussions. Please save the date. The abstract submission and registration will open soon.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Duisburg.
