3rd Conference of the GDCh Division of Chemistry and Energy

May 24 - 25, 2023 in Pfinztal

Welcome

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

the GDCh division “Chemie und Energie” is inviting you to join our 3rd division meeting taking place from 24. until 25. May 2023 at the Fraunhofer ICT in Pfinztal.

This is a continuation of the meeting series from 2016 (Jena) and 2018 (Mülheim/Ruhr) to initiate discussion and exchange.

Since our first moves as a working group in 2009, the societal relevance of the topic Chemistry and Energy significantly increased. The role of chemistry as an enabler of energy transformation is clearly visible and widely accepted beyond the expert communities. Topics like batteries, hydrogen or electrification are broadly discussed in politics and society.

Choosing the title

GREEN Materials – Processes – Industry

we want to emphasize the prominent role of chemistry in the energy transformation.

We will put together an interesting program and ask for contributions from everyone who is interested in the border area between chemistry and energy. You are welcomed to join us in the discussion on important future topics regarding the energy supply.

Prominent representatives of this area agreed for keynote lectures. Beatriz Roldán Cuenya (Fritz-Haber Institute), Philipp Adelhelm (HU Berlin), Ulrike Krewer (KIT) and Ingo Krossing (Uni Freiburg) will present the recent academic highlights, while Karen Perrey (Covestro) and Marco Bosch (BASF) will point out the industrial perspective.

Pfinztal is located close to Karlsruhe and therefore in the heart of the powerful Technology Region Karlsruhe. Our host, Fraunhofer Institute for chemical technology (ICT), itself is one of the leading institutes in the field of energy transformation

We invite everybody interested in the topic to join us for interesting and innovative discussions.

Nils Bottke, Anna Fischer, Malte Behrens, Stefan Kaskel, Anna Mechler, Günter Schmid, Rainer Weber
